On 15 February, the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) announced that Arriva plc in conjunction with Connex Transport UK Limited, FirstGroup plc, National Express Group plc, and Serco Rail had been shortlisted to compete for the Wales and Borders franchise. It will be for the SRA to determine a commencement date for the franchise.
