I am withholding information regarding the quantity of MLRS M28 rockets held in stock by the armed forces, in accordance with exemption 1 (a) of the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information.

We share the US's concerns about the problem of missile Proliferation and understand the role that missile defence can play as one element of the response. The US has not yet put forward specific missile defence proposals, but has made clear that it intends to consult fully with its Allies before making any decision. We expect to play a full and constructive part in that process, taking account of UK national security interests.
