HC Deb 23 April 2001 vol 367 cc16-7W
Mr. Chope

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture. Media and Sport (1) what action his Department is taking to enable television viewers in the Verwood area of Dorset to obtain access to the full range of digital terrestrial television; [158473]

(2) what changes are proposed to the power output of the Rowridge and Salisbury transmitters to enable television viewers in the Verwood area of Dorset to obtain the full range of digital terrestrial television. [158467]

Janet Anderson

I understand from the Independent Television Commission (ITC) that the Rowridge transmitter received an upgrade in January as part of the ongoing work to equalise the coverage of digital terrestrial television of all six multiplexes. The Government are working with the ITC, the BBC and the broadcasting industry on how to extend digital services further to achieve the best possible coverage throughout the country.
