HC Deb 31 October 2000 vol 355 c443W
Mr. McDonnell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what plans he has to review the guidance given to local authorities on the procedures for consulting local residents on applications for entertainments licences; [134700]

(2) what guidance his Department provides to local authorities on the procedures for consulting local residents on applications for entertainments licences; [134701]

(3) what guidance his Department provides to local authorities on the consideration of objections to applications for entertainments licences. [134699]

Mr. Mike O'Brien

I have been asked to reply as I have responsibility for public entertainment licensing.

The Home Office has not issued guidance to local authorities on these issues. We have, however, included in our White Paper "Time for Reform" (Cm 4696), which was published on 10 April, proposals for reform of public entertainment licensing, with new requirements for local resident consultation.
