To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people living in the UK are receiving hospital treatment for HIV/AIDS; and if he will make statement. [134816]

The number of people with HIV/AIDS receiving treatment within the National Health Service in England in the calendar year 1999 was 20,765, adjusted for under reporting. Information relating to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are matters for the devolved administrations.
