HC Deb 23 October 2000 vol 355 cc61-2W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what estimate he has made of the volume of long-distance east-west traffic along the South Coast which uses the M25 in preference to roads along the South Coast as indicated in his 1997 Roads Review Consultation Document, entitled "What Role for Trunk Roads in England"; and, in respect of the traffic studies being undertaken as part of the Access to Hastings Study, what estimate he has made of the volume of long-distance traffic which would transfer from the M25 to the A27 between Lewes-Polegate as a consequence of the construction in isolation of the A259 Hastings and Bexhill bypass. Mr. Hill
