Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in the pre-Budget report his intention that the increase to 1500cc in the threshold for the lower rate of vehicle excise duty for cars will be backdated to November 2000. Detailed arrangements will be subject to consultation with the motoring organisations.
