HL Deb 07 November 2000 vol 618 cc145-6WA
Lord Donoughue

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When the roadworks extending along Buckingham Palace Road began; when they were originally expected to be completed; and why on a majority of days in that period nobody was working towards completion of the works. [HL4370]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (Lord Whitty)

I understand from Westminster City Council that these works began in February this year and are expected to be completed by March 2001. These works are part of a traffic management scheme which is funded by the City of Westminster to improve conditions in the Belgravia area. Questions regarding the progress of these works should be addressed to the City of Westminster and Transport for London which have responsibility for the highway.
