§ Jacqui SmithParagraph 6(b) of Schedule 27 of the Education Act 1996 requires that where an LEA makes a statement of special educational needs they shall, when serving a copy of the statement on the parent of the child, give notice in writing to the parent of the name of the person to whom he may apply for information and advice about the child's special educational needs. Supplementary advice on the identification of the named person is given in the "Code of Practice on the Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs", which applies to England and Wales.
