§ Yvette CooperIn the absence of a cure for AIDS or a vaccine against HIV, prevention remains our best weapon in the fight against the spread of HIV. We therefore remain committed to funding health promotion work, including awareness campaigns for groups most at risk of HIV and the general population. £3 million has been allocated to sexual health promotion work for 2000–01 including HIV/AIDS health promotion. The Department also funds the National AIDS Helpline health promotion. The Department also funds the National AIDS Helpline which provides confidential advice and information on all aspects of HIV and AIDS.
