§ Ms Beverley HughesMy right hon. Friend the Deputy Prime Minister announced on 7 March that the Thames Gateway remains a focus for development and an opportunity for growth in the south-east. Draft Regional Planning Guidance published on 22 March identifies the regeneration of the area as a national and regional priority and proposes an extension of the boundary into south Essex. Stronger implementation structures, including a new strategic partnership and local delivery mechanisms, are being discussed with local and regional organisations in the area.
