§ Mr. Charles ClarkeInformation by police force area and ethnic appearance of suspect for persons stopped and searched by the police and those subsequently arrested, is published annually by the Home Office in 'Statistics on Race and the Criminal Justice System', a copy of which is in the Library. This information is also available through the Home Office web site www.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/publf.htm. The latest information published in December 1999, covers information for the financial year 1998–99. No information is available centrally for each borough in the Metropolitan Police area or for the number of convictions following a stop and search.
