To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what(a) technical and (b) financial assistance the Government have provided to ECOMOG in Sierra Leone. [128093]

Mr. Hain

We have provided around £5 million worth of practical support for the ECOMOG peacekeeping forces in Sierra Leone. This support included vehicles, ration packs, boots, tents, communications equipment and the funding of helicopter hours.

The ECOMOG peacekeeping force has now left Sierra Leone.
