§ Lord WhittyMy honourable friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Beverley Hughes, launched the government strategy for more sustainable construction, entitledBuilding a better quality of life, in April 2000. This strategy aims to improve the economic, social and environmental performance of construction and is supported by a wide range of government and industry initiatives and programmes.
