To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many businesses used Business Links during 1998–99 in each region, counting each business only once.[123534]

The table shows the total number of businesses assisted in each region by Business Links in each quarter during 1998-99, England figures and averages are also included.

As part of its overall strategy on renewable energy, the Government are taking powers in the Utilities Bill to impose an Obligation on licensed electricity suppliers to supply a specified proportion of their electricity from renewable sources. Wind energy is an established technology and is expected to make a substantial contribution.
