To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, pursuant to his answer of 25 May 2000,Official Report, column 606W, on instructors, where information on basic qualifications or subject taught is held. [124767]

Ms Estelle Morris

[holding answer 8 June 2000]Governing bodies acting with the consent of the local authority have to assure themselves that staff employed as instructors have appropriate qualifications. Governing bodies and local authorities make their own arrangements for holding information about instructors' qualifications and experience.

Information on subjects taught is held by schools.
