To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what key targets have been set for the Service Children's Education Agency for the financial year 2000–01. [125579]

The Chief Executive has been set the following Key Targets for 2000–01To meet the following percentage of pupils achieving Level 2 at the end of Key Stage 1 in: Reading—88 per cent. Writing—91 per cent. Spelling—75 per cent. Mathematics—92 per cent. To meet the following percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 at the end of Key Stage 2 in: English—78 per cent. Mathematics—76 per cent. Science—81 per cent. To meet the following percentage of pupils achieving Level 5 at the end of Key Stage 3 in: English—82 per cent. Mathematics—71 per cent. Science—71 per cent. To maintain a three year rolling average percentage of Year 11 pupils in SCE achieving five or more higher (A*-C) grades in GCSE of 47 per cent. To meet a three year rolling average of subject entries achieving passes at grades A-C level of 56 per cent. To achieve as a minimum a "satisfactory" standard in each OFSTED school inspection. To respond in full to customers seeking educational advice from SCE(UK) within the following timescales: 92 per cent. within 10 working days of receipt (remainder within 20 working days of receipt). To develop a pilot scheme in 2000–01 to produce a measurement of "value added" in SCE schools for 2001–02. To achieve index of satisfaction with SCE within the Army Spouses Continuous Attitude Survey above 362 overall.
