§ Ms Estelle MorrisThe Government announced on 30 March that training salaries would be introduced for postgraduate trainees starting initial teacher training courses from September 2000. Applications for PGCE courses in England and Wales for secondary teaching in 137W maths, modern foreign languages, science and technology received since 30 March together with comparative figures for the previous year are given in the table.

The Government announced on 30 March that training salaries would be introduced for postgraduate trainees starting initial teacher training courses from September 2000. Since that date 502 (22 per cent.) more applications 138W have been input on the Graduate Teacher Training Registry computer system than for the equivalent period last year.
