HC Deb 27 July 2000 vol 354 c832W
Mr. Alasdair Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how much of the money spent on construction work on the A55 was EU funding, broken down by EU source fund and budget, in each of the last 10 years. [129465]

Mr. Paul Murphy

During the 10 years up to 1 July 1999, £6.9 million was allocated in 1990 from the EC Transport Infrastructure Fund to the A55 Pen y Clip tunnel scheme. The money was drawn down in instalments over the next few years but information on the size and date of each instalment is not obtainable without incurring disproportionate cost.

For that part of the A55 in England, the Highways Agency has reported no EU funding in the last 10 years.

All functions with regards to trunk roads and motorways in Wales were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales on 1 July 1999.
