§ Mr. McNamaraTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress he has made in settling on a figure to compensate Ms Elaine Moore following her wrongful arrest and imprisonment in July 1998. [131362]
§ Mr. StrawI am not aware of any application for compensation having been received by the Home Office in respect of Ms Moore's case. If an application is received, it will be dealt with in the usual way. It falls to me, as Secretary of State, to decide whether in principle an applicant qualifies for compensation. The amount of any award is determined by the independent assessor, Sir David Calcutt QC.
