§ Miss Melanie JohnsonTransfers of shares in UK-registered companies are subject to UK stamp duty or stamp duty reserve tax (SDRT) wherever they are traded. Shares in non-UK companies may be traded in the UK without incurring UK stamp duties. The rate of stamp duty/SDRT on transfers of UK shares is 0.5 per cent.
