Information on numbers of people newly meeting eligibility criteria for continuing National Health Service in-patient care is collected on a quarterly basis. From 1 July 1999 to 31 March 2000, 17,639 people newly met eligibility criteria for continuing in-patient care funded by the NHS. This figure includes an element of forecast data.
