§ Mr. Andrew SmithPlans for expenditure on education and training were set out by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 18 July in the Spending Review White Paper. Expenditure on education and training in England will rise from £38.8 billion this year to £42.1 billion in 2001–02, £45.6 billion in 2002–03 and £49.2 billion in 2003–04—an average real increase of 5.6 per cent. across the three years.
