§ Mr. Chris Smith[holding answer 22 June 2000]: An Act of Parliament is required to repeal the Osborne Estate Act 1902. Closure of the King Edward VII Convalescent Home does not require legislation. My responsibility under the 1902 Act is to devote part of Osborne house to 213W the benefit of members of the Armed Forces and Civil Service, but the running of a convalescent home is not a specific requirement.
