HL Deb 12 July 2000 vol 615 c34WA
Lord Acton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made on the work for the Ministry of Defence being undertaken at the British Nuclear Fuels Limited Magnox facility at the Berkeley Centre in Gloucestershire. {HL3275]

Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean

The work undertaken for the department by BNFL Magnox, Berkeley Centre, has been very successful but did not commence until June 1999 and has taken longer than anticipated because of problems developing the experimental apparatus. Further examination of spent fuel is taking place and it is now planned that the site will revert to its fully safeguarded status by 30th September 2000.
