HL Deb 06 July 2000 vol 614 cc155-6WA
Baroness Anelay of St. Johns

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What plans they have to assess and clarify the roles of the Arts Council of England and the Regional Arts Boards. [HL3076]

Lord McIntosh of Haringey

The Arts Council of England is the national funding body for the arts in England. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport assesses ACE's performance in fulfilling this role through a range of indicators set out in the Department's Funding Agreement with it. Similarly, the Arts Council has funding agreements of its own with the regional arts boards, through which it assesses the RABs' performance in meeting the Arts Council's and the Government's objectives.
