HC Deb 27 January 2000 vol 343 c310W
Mr. Coaker

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what funding he has made available to local education authorities to support the changes to the sixth-form curriculum coming into force from September 2000; and if he will make a statement. [106832]

Mr. Wicks

[holding answer 25 January 2000]: The Department estimates that the recurrent costs of successfully implementing the forthcoming reforms to post-16 qualifications in LEA maintained schools are likely to be of the order of £35 million in 2000–01. The sum was added to the Education Standard Spending Assessment for that year, in the light of the Comprehensive Spending Review. It is for individual local education authorities to decide how to allocate resources to the schools they maintain.
