The Charities Aid Foundation estimates overall income donated by individuals to be around £5 billion to £6 billion per year. Research on donations to charities by individuals or households has been carried out by the Institute for Fiscal Studies 513W (using the Family Expenditure Survey), and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, from which further details are available.
