HC Deb 18 January 2000 vol 342 cc393-4W
Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what percentage of the contract with Raytheon

Mr. Spellar

Activity to attract recruits to the Territorial Army (TA) falls into two categoriesrecruit marketing which is managed centrally by Headquarters Land Command and Recruiting Group and at local and regional level by Territorial, Auxiliary and Volunteer Reserve Associations (TAVRAs), and direct recruiting which is the responsibility of Unit Commanding Officers.

Over the last 12–18 months, recruit marketing work to maintain awareness of the TA and to engender a good recruiting environment for the future has comprised:

Systems for 5 Air Bourne stand-off radar will be spent with (a) UK-based companies, (b) other Europe-based companies and (c) US-based companies. [104833]

Mr. Spellar

About 75 per cent. of the contract will be spent with UK-based companies. The remainder will mainly be spent with US/Canadian based companies. Raytheon have undertaken to provide additional work to UK companies to bring the total to 100 per cent. of the contract value.
