§ Kate HoeyMy Department's funding for sport is channelled primarily through the Sports Councils: Sport England and UK Sport. The resources made available by the two Sports Councils is as follows:

This scheme encourages commercial sponsors to invest in grass root sport, particularly youth development programmes. During the last full financial year (1998–99) the awards made to these sports were:

It is not possible to provide figures for each of these sports as awards to the individual sports vary from year to year and the process is application led.
