Letter from John. F. Howe to Mr. Michael Hancock, dated 15 February 2000: I am replying to your question to the Secretary of State for Defence about the cost of evaluating MESAR2 in White Sands, USA and how much of the cost will be borne by his department. This matter falls within my area of responsibility as Chief of Defence Procurement and Chief Executive of the Defence Procurement Agency. The estimated cost to the UK of evaluating MESAR2 at the White Sands Missile Range is £1,691,000 (excluding VAT). The range will be provided to us on a cost-free basis but there will undoubtedly be costs incurred by the US of which we have no visibility.
