§ Mr. Charles ClarkeAs at 19 March 1999, the annual cost of a police constable serving in a provincial force, based on average salary for the rank, is £35,081, inclusive of Earnings-Related National Insurance Contribution, notional pension costs and housing allowance.
An officer serving in London will additionally receive London Allowance of £1,011 and London Weighting of £1,662.
