§ Mr. Hoon[holding answer 7 February 2000]: I have discussed with the US Defense Secretary, William Cohen, the possible US requirement for facilities in the UK to support the US National Missile Defence (NMD) programme. We have received no formal request from the US Administration regarding Fylingdales, nor would we expect any until after a US decision on whether or not to proceed towards deployment of the NMD system.
