§ Mr. Timms[holding answer 8 February 2000]: The rates of the climate change levy that were published in the 1999 Pre-Budget Report are consistent with a levy raising around £1 billion in 2001–02. They are based on energy use data consistent with the DTI's Digest of United Kingdom Energy Statistics.
All the revenues raised from the levy will be recycled to business through a 0.3 percentage point cut in employer's National Insurance Contributions and increased support for energy efficiency measures.
