Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what number and percentage of police vehicles involved in accidents while responding to an emergency or otherwise in pursuit were(a) motorway patrol vehicles, (b) armed response vehicles and (c) other police vehicles for each year since 1995. The information available centrally does not include the categories of vehicles requested. But a Home Office study of deaths and serious injuries resulting from police vehicle accidents which was published in 1997 contains this table giving the sorts of police vehicles involved in 1990–93:
