§ Mr. VazThe European Commission began legal proceedings against France's illegal ban on British beef on 4 January. This is now a matter between the Commission and the French Government, though my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary maintains a regular dialogue with the French Foreign Minister, M. Hubert Vedrine, to discuss a range of bilateral issues, such as the beef ban.
