HC Deb 20 December 2000 vol 360 c194W
14. Mr. Fabricant

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will meet senior police officers to discuss enforced expulsions from Northern Ireland of individuals by paramilitary groups. [141766]

Mr. Ingram

I receive regular briefings on the security situation from the Chief Constable and my security advisers.

I utterly condemn any activity by groups on either side of the community that is aimed at intimidating people into leaving the province.

Police investigations of such offences are often hampered when victims generally decline to make a formal complaint.

It is therefore important that members of communities, within which these attacks are taking place, pass to police any relevant information. They may do so in strict confidence using the Crimestoppers line—0800 555 111.
