HC Deb 13 December 2000 vol 359 cc157-8W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how many(a) fatal and (b) other road traffic accidents were caused in the last year for which figures are available by vehicles travelling in excess of 100 mph; and how many individuals died as a result. [142106]

Mr. Hill

At the scene of a road accident it is very difficult to determine the speeds at which each of the vehicles involved were travelling. In addition to this, drivers or riders of vehicles involved in accidents are unlikely to be honest about how fast they were actually travelling, especially if they were travelling at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

For this reason, the data requested are unavailable.
