§ Dawn PrimaroloThe Government recently announced a huge new investment of up to £209 million for HM Customs and Excise to tackle tobacco smuggling. Customs are appointing nearly 1,000 extra staff, a substantial number of whom will be at Dover. In addition, Dover will be included in the new national network of x-ray scanners.
