To ask the Secretary of State for Health if his Department has carried out research into the impact on life expectancy for residents of the closure of residential homes for the elderly; and if he will make a statement. [119470]

There has been no research carried out into the impact on life expectancy for residents of the closure of residential homes for the elderly.

We are considering the need for such research and expect to make an announcement in the near future.
