We strongly support the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General to modernise the UN to make it more efficient and effective and better able to meet the needs of all its members. In particular, we want to see the implementation of modern management and budgetary practices. Together with our EU partners, we look forward to a high-level discussion on strengthening the UN at the Millennium Summit in New York in September.
