HC Deb 03 April 2000 vol 347 c324W
Mr. Pickthall

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what assessment he has made of the balance of advantage and disadvantage in establishing a fuel duty rebate for dial-a-ride services. [117149]

Mr. Hill

Possible changes to the scope of the existing fuel duty rebate scheme are currently being considered by the Commission for Integrated Transport, as part of its review of value for money from public financial support for the bus industry. At present a key eligibility criterion for rebate is that the bus service concerned should be available to the general public; we will give careful consideration to the case for extending eligibility in the light of the Commission's report expected later this year.
