HC Deb 21 October 1999 vol 336 c644W
Mr. John D. Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) when the premises, formerly occupied by the East Down Institute for Further Education, adjacent to Portavogie Primary School, New Harbour road, Portavogie, became vacant; what proposals there are for the future user or ownership of these premises; and if he will make a statement; [94431]

(2) how long the school premises at New Harbour road, Portavogie adjacent to the primary school have been vacant; what proposals there are for the future use or disposal of these premises; and if he will make a statement. [94540]

Mr. McFall

The adult education centre in Portavogie was officially closed down by the East Down Institute for Further and Higher Education in June 1998. The South Eastern Education and Library Board carried out a feasibility study into possible renovation of the building but it proved too costly. I understand that the premises will now be offered for public sale.
