HC Deb 19 October 1999 vol 336 cc576-7W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what progress has been made on matters relating to concordats with the National Assembly; and if he will make a statement. [94152]

Mr. Paul Murphy

The Memorandum of Understanding and supplementary agreements between the United Kingdom Government, Scottish Ministers and the Cabinet of the National Assembly for Wales was published earlier this month (Cm 4444). Bi-lateral concordats between Whitehall Departments and the Assembly are being finalised.

Mr. Evans

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what discussions he has had with, and when he next intends to meet, the first Secretary and the Economic Development Secretary, regarding concordats relating to inward investment in Wales. [94174]

Mr. Paul Murphy

One of the supplementary agreements to the Memorandum of Understanding between the UK Government and the devolved Administrations concerned financial assistance to industry. I discussed this with the First Secretary before it was agreed. I meet the First Secretary and the Economic Development Secretary regularly to discuss a variety of topics.
