HC Deb 19 October 1999 vol 336 cc476-7W
Miss Kirkbride

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much money was raised by the sale by the NHS Executive of the Barnsley Hall site in Bromsgrove; and where the money will be reinvested. [94194]

Mr. Denham

All proceeds from the sale of surplus National Health Service estate are directed back into central Departmental funds, to be redistributed back to regional offices as part of their overall capital allocations. The closure and sale of Barnsley Hall was the culmination of a range of investment in Bromsgrove and Redditch health services over the past few years, and as such the sale proceeds from Barnsley Hall can be seen as a partial repayment of this investment. It is not the policy of the NHS to reveal how much it receives for land sales, as this information is considered commercially sensitive.
