§ Mr. LockThe Legal Aid Board published a consultation paper on the new Funding Code in January 1999 at the Lord Chancellor's request. The Board intends to publish a report on that consultation, and a new draft of the Code for further consultation, on 26 October. This will constitute the consultation required by section 8(8) of the Access to Justice Act.

Friend the Secretary of State for Social Security met Pierre Pettigrew, Canadian Minister for Human Resources Development, on 12 January, and Dermot Ahern, Irish Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, on 25 June. They had wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics of mutual interest, including pension reform.
