§ Clare ShortOne person in Bahamas was reported to have died as a result of Hurricane Floyd. The Government of Bahamas estimate of the value of the damage caused by the hurricane is $400 million. The most seriously affected islands in the Bahamas were Eleuthra, Abaco, Cat Island, San Salvador and Grand Bahama.

§ Clare ShortFollowing Hurricane Floyd, my Department received appeals for funds to assist the Bahamas from the Bahamian Red Cross and the Bahamian National Disaster Relief Fund. £15,625 ($25,000) was donated to each appeal.
