§ Mr. HainThe situation in Ethiopia and Eritrea remains delicately poised. Eritrea has accepted the Technical Arrangements for implementation of the OAU Framework Agreement. Ethiopia has difficulties with this document.
Algeria, as current chair of the OAU, is continuing to work with both sides to find a way of moving the process forward. The OAU's mediation efforts have our full support.
We continue to urge both sides to remain engaged; to refrain from a return to fighting; and to reach a peaceful solution to the current crisis.
