To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (1) how many incidents there were involving breaches of the Channel traffic separation scheme and collision prevention regulations in each year from 1988 to the present; and what were the names and flags of the ships involved; [98415]

(2) how many prosecutions have been brought in respect of infringements of the Channel traffic separation scheme or collision prevention regulations in each year from 1988 to the present; and what were the names and flags of the ships involved; [98416]

(3) how many collisions there were in the Channel in each year from 1988 to the present; and what were the names and flags of the ships involved; [98417]

(4) what percentage of foreign-flagged ships visiting the UK were inspected in UK ports under port state control arrangements in each year from 1988 to the present; what was the ratio of inspections to detentions in each of these years; and what was the percentage of inspected ships found with deficiencies in each of these years. [98418]
