HC Deb 10 November 1999 vol 337 c656W
Mr. Drew

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will publish guidelines explaining why all medications need now to be in patient packs. [97479]

Mr. Denham

[holding answer 5 November 1999]: There is no legal or National Health Service requirement for medicines to be supplied in patient packs. European Commission Directive 92/27 on medicines labelling and leaflets requires that medicines are supplied to patients with a detailed label and patient information leaflet containing a standard but extensive minimum set of information.
